The Kanmon Gate between Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City has been selected as one of the world's top 100 destinations in the 2025 category "Destination Management" by Green Destinations (GD), an international certification organization that recognizes sustainable tourism destinations around the world.

The project has been recognized worldwide for discovering the potential of "infrastructure tourism" as a solution to the challenges of regional collaboration in the Kanmon Strait area, which spans Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City, and for its contributions to area management as "one tourism zone" by involving infrastructure businesses in the tourism circle.
